Murphy is supposedly doing a Mediterranean restaurant at the Hard Rock. I can see it. Fits with their other cuisines and doesn't conflict with Council Oak, etc.
David Lombardo - wine/beverage man in charge for benchmarc (the group) introduced half bottles of wine to New York - his lists are always really interesting, and reliable. Marc's food is phenomenal.. this has been in the works for awhile.
Nice pic of Marc Murphy. It's another case of a celeb chef sniffing around Tampa Bay (Michael Mina and Don Pintabona; the disastrous flirtation with Robert Irvine). Murphy is an accomplished NYC chef and Food Network star.
One in particular being Marc Murphy's new place at the Hard Rock, I have been going to his restaurants in NYC for a long time... the food and wine lists will be unreal.
Tampa Bay TimesTAMPA — The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa announced Monday it will partner with New York celebrity chef Marc Murphy to debut a new as-yet-unnamed Mediterranean restaurant to take the place of the Green Room, with a target opening date in November.

I'm guessing American Social will be just one of many restaurants capitalizing on Vinik's ambitious Channelside devel. Gonna be some good views from Harbour Island.

It's rare to see a Thai restaurant over 150 seats around here. Usu. more mom-and-pop, but seems like a promising location given all the built-in customers in the office complex.
I agree, Michelle, but mine got a little sogged with the watermelon/cuke/etc. juice. Either strain it longer or put it in a ramekin for me to spoon on the bread.
Tampa Bay TimesST. PETERSBURGBurlap and chicken wire create a textural backdrop for a mounted pitchfork over the bar. One wall is the lustrous tooled leather of a rodeo star's lucky saddle, another is an installation of rust-freckled gears and cogs and wheels and pipes. A repurposed footed bathtub becomes the ladies' room sink; the men's room features a wash basin inset in a wide-wale tractor tire. At the hostess stand there's a vintage hand pump, behind that a huge waterwheel-turned-wine rack.
